Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet
Every Sunday at the end of the day the family and I enjoy a cookie skillet and talk about the greatness that is God and His son Jesus Christ. It is the perfect end to the week!
Ingredients
1 ½ sticks butter room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or I will chop up 2 milk chocolate bars
Flaky sea salt optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 F.
With softened butter grease your 10’’ or 12’’ cast iron skillet.
Add softened butter, sugar and brown sugar to your standing mixer bowl and beat on medium for 2 minutes.
Add the egg, egg yolk and vanilla and mix until combined.
Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt, on low and until just combined. Then gently stir in the chocolate chips.
Press the cookie dough into the skillet.
Bake for 25-35 minutes. It will look barley golden.
Don’t over-bake it, especially since it will continue to cook in the hot skillet when you take it out of the oven.
Allow to cool in the skillet for at least 20 minutes before cutting. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if you wish, it is so good, trust me!
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or alone!
